Yes, Chin family members who live in different regions are brought together by the 2 terms “Salai-mai”. However, only using these 2 terms has not achieved Chin national unity.
The use of “Salai-mai” by young people today is at the “first” stage of acquiring a common vocabulary for Chin youth. In other words, “Salai-Mai” exists only through (UNIFORM) (consistent occurrence) or (UNIFORMITY). In this first stage, as Chin youths, in addition to acquiring (UNIFORMITY) level, The second level, the “Salai Mai spirit”, can only be built by truly deep unity (UNITY).
